Hello 👋🏼 

As you can see by the first picture I am taking part in the ‘12 dips in December’ and the charity of my choice who I am doing it for is the ‘Irish Heart Foundation’. 

So there is a couple of reasons why I have chosen to do this. 

Yes of course I would love to raise some €€ for this charity but I’m aware cost of living is tough at the moment, Christmas is coming, so for me my main goal is to raise awareness around the importance to look after you and your health. Especially your heart health. Cardiovascular disease is one of the main causes of death here in Ireland. We need to be more aware of the signs and symptoms and also more importantly what we can do to maintain a healthy heart, we only have 1! 

Life can become so busy and we loose ourselves, start ignoring signs and symptoms our bodies may be telling us that something could be off. Work life balance is something that can become unmanageable and we start (I am guilty of this myself) to forget about ourselves. 

Another very important reason is for my beautiful Mom who a lot of you may know unfortunately suddenly passed awayin May of this year of heart disease. She was my number one supporter in anything I ever decided to do, she’s would look at me and tell me I’m stone mad 🤣 but would support me 100%. When I first started open water swimming and doing dips she would come along (even tho she hates anything to do with water and sand) and sit there and watch me. Her support and encouragement was second to none! Ever since she passed I always want to keep her memory alive and this is a perfect place to start! So even tho it’ll be a bit chilly I know she’ll laughing and along side me all the way ✨

If you’ve gotten this far in my essay (never intended to be this long 😅) thank you! And if I can achieve anything it would be for someone to maybe take themselves on that walk they have promised themselves every evening or make that check up appointment you’ve been putting off! 

Tomorrow is not promised, you’ve  got only one life so live it and enjoy it ♥️
