Running for the Hearts that Can't

“Run, Forrest, run.”Forrest Gump

I don’t have a story. No turning point. No diagnosis.

Just a feeling that said: do this.

So I’m running RUN 100 for the Irish Heart Foundation.

Heart disease and stroke are still one of the leading causes of death in Ireland. Around 9,000 lives are lost every year, and over 600,000 people are living with a heart or cardiovascular condition. That’s not abstract — that’s our parents, friends, neighbor's and us.

Every hour, someone in Ireland has a stroke.
And most of us don’t think about it… until we have to.

I’m running because I can.
Because my heart is strong today — and not everyone gets that chance.

If you can donate, you’re helping fund lifesaving education, research, and support.
If you can share, you’re spreading awareness.

I’ll do the running.
Together, we can help protect more hearts. ❤️

Day3- When Will Refuses to Yield

Thursday 5th Feb
For one who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends;
but for one who has failed to do so, the mind will remain the greatest enemy.”
Bhagavad Gita

This run happened on Day 3, even if it’s finding its way to the blog on Day 5. Day 4 slipped by quietly but the body remembers what the calendar forgets.

The rain was light, but relentless. Wind pushed back at every step, flinging cold drops straight into my eyes, as if trying to convince me to stop. And then I saw them , kids no older than five or six, out on the football ground, tiny kickers chasing a ball in the drizzle like nothing else mattered.

No complaints. No hesitation. Just joy, movement, and will.

If they could keep running through rain without second thoughts, I had no excuse to slow down. The weather kept testing me, but those little boots on wet grass reminded me of something simple and powerful: willpower doesn’t shout it just keeps going.

That thought carried me through the rest of the run.
Sometimes strength isn’t about pushing harder it’s about refusing to stop.

Day 2- Chills Don’t Matter If the Spirits Are High

Tuesday 3rd Feb
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” - Jim Rohn (motivational speaker)

Today’s run came with a sharp bite in the air, the kind that settles into your lungs before your body has a chance to warm up. Along the way, I passed school football teams pulling on jerseys, stamping their feet against the cold, gearing up for a match like the weather was irrelevant. Their energy said everything: commitment doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.

Somewhere between breaths, it clicked when the spirit is high enough, discomfort loses its power. That thought carried me through the rest of the run. And so did the motivation from everyone who’s contributed so far. Your support turns cold miles into meaningful ones and today, it pushed me forward. ❤️

Day 1: The beginning

Monday 2nd Feb

“When it comes to matters of the heart, prevention is better than cure.”Dr. William Harvey, pioneer of modern cardiology

Today’s run wasn’t about distance or pace — it was about starting. Every step felt like a quiet promise to my own heart, a reminder that movement is a privilege and health is never guaranteed. What pushed me forward most, though, was knowing that people have already chosen to support this journey. Every contribution, every message, every bit of encouragement turned today’s run into something bigger than me — and that made Day 1 feel like it truly mattered.
