Help Protect Hearts in Ireland

In Ireland in 2013, 9,473 people (4,791 were male / 4,682 were female) died from cardiovascular diseases. These diseases accounted for approximately one third of all deaths in Ireland that year.

My Mam, Maureen O'Grady, was one of those people. In the last 20 years, two of her four brothers have died, both from cardiovascular diseases.

This year marked the 12th anniversary since Mam passed on August 30th, 2013. When I saw this challenge for the '12 Dips in December' for the Irish Heart Foundation charity, the symmetry rang a bell with me.

So here I am, and hoping to make a few quid for this wonderful charity. A charity that supports families in Ireland, where one in two families are impacted by cardiovascular diseases.

I had to start here as it's my favourite spot for a sea dip! Always people here, and always have the chats! :-)

The water temperature was 8.5C and the air temperature was 8C! A good start - warmer in the sea than out!

And even warmer still after a lekker flat white in Kali Coffee Bar! ;-)
