My September 60km Walking Challenge ❤️

Monday 31st Aug
Hello!!

I'm Samantha, and I've decided to take part in the Irish Heart Foundation's 60km in September challenge! ❤️

My connection with heart health started long before I even understood what it meant.

When I was born, my grandmother already had a pacemaker. She was 84 years old when she passed away, when I was 15. Sadly, her pacemaker was already old and stopped working while she was sleeping.

Even now, at 32, I still miss her terribly. She was a very important part of my life, and this is one of the reasons why supporting heart health feels especially meaningful to me.

Lately, I've been taking better care of my own health, and honestly, I've been feeling really good. I've been walking much more, and what started as a challenge has become something I genuinely enjoy. It has improved my mood, my routine, my energy and the way I feel every day.

And Johnny (my husband) decided to join me on this journey too s2
He has really embraced this whole change in my routine and has been supporting me along the way. What started as something I was doing for myself has become something we do together, making every kilometre and every little achievement feel even more meaningful to both of us.

I signed up for the Irish Heart Foundation's 60km in September challenge, and here's the funny part: September hasn't even started yet and I've already walked more than 140km! 😂

I originally joined in August, so I've been counting my walks already, but I'm definitely not stopping. Walking has become such a positive part of my life that I would honestly recommend it to everyone. Even if you start with just a little bit, the difference it can make is amazing.

I've actually been able to see how much this change has affected my health in my own recent blood tests too, which showed a huge improvement compared with my previous results. It has been such a good reminder that taking care of ourselves and making small, consistent changes can really make a difference.

Now comes the part where I need a little help:

My fundraising goal is €150, but I'll be completely honest: I don't really think I'll manage to reach it. We’re quite private and tend to keep to ourselves, and I don’t know that many people here, so fundraising is a little difficult for me.

But I'm going to try anyway.

If you are one of my friends, or someone who simply connects with this cause, I would be incredibly grateful if you could make a small donation through my fundraising page. Even a few euros can help support the Irish Heart Foundation and the important work they do.

And, of course, there's a tiny selfish motivation too... 😂
I'd absolutely love to reach my €150 goal and earn my first challenge medal! 🥹🏅

If you would like to support me, my fundraising link is below. The donations go directly towards supporting the Irish Heart Foundation.

Thank you so much to anyone who reads this, shares it, donates, or simply cheers me on ❤️

Let's see if I can actually get that medal! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏅🏆
