12 Dips in December 2025 - Supported by Daybreak

Help Protect Hearts in Ireland

I am taking part in 12 Dips in December to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation and I’d love your support to help protect hearts in Ireland. ❤️

The Irish Heart Foundation’s mission is to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke and to support and care for those living with these life-changing conditions.

Your donation will make a real difference to people and families affected by heart disease and stroke.

Thank you for visiting my page and for your support.

The final one... 12!

Monday 29th Dec
I hope you've enjoyed following me on this journey of me freezing my ass 12 times this month! 😂 - Special way to finish, on holiday in Edinburgh, made my way to the beach for this. So much fun having dogs splash around me when going my plunge!

Eleven on Christmas Eve!

Wednesday 24th Dec
I know this fundraising isn't much help but it's something. And I thought by sharing my story that maybe it can help others in some way as well. - I chose a different spot for today. I had to weave my way around rocks and branches. Also much more spectators asking "Did you actually go in?... Is it cold?"

Ten!

Tuesday 23rd Dec
I try and take some positives out of this situation. (If I didn't life would be even harder). I became much closer to my mom (we were together throughout everything). I became a much stronger person. I realized to take risks and go for your dreams cause you never know what will happen. - Once again very calm. I stumbled upon a dead fish in the water, good size too! Always an adventure, never a dull dip.

Number nine

Monday 22nd Dec
It's been a struggle to see the way he lives now, not really a life anymore just going through the motions of living day to day, having nothing to do. - Such a calm day and with the fog all around it felt very tranquil. I even swam out a bit, actually moving my body in the cold water instead of just sitting.

8th cold plunge

Tuesday 16th Dec
I was the one who found him after his stroke one summer morning. He acted as if everything was okay. Things happen so quickly (F.A.S.T) (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call) - I was a little weary today about the plunge, seeing frost on the grass as I was walking to the lake. But the sun is out and I had some company; a cormorant bird was in the water just in front of me.

Lucky number seven

Monday 15th Dec
It's hard remembering the person he was before his stroke. The funny, Loving, relaxed, goofy guy in the room. - What a beautiful day, sunny and 8°C, I wasn't planning on doing a plunge but thought why not on such a nice day! The water did seem cooler though since my body was warm from the sun.

Halfway there!!

Friday 12th Dec
When growing up my dad was my hero, always there for me. We did everything together! (He would even write me a sick note for school just so we can spend a day together) - Today I had the pleasure of a friend joining me on her first cold plunge! It was fun to share this experience with someone.

Fifth cold dip

Wednesday 10th Dec
He's been living in pretty shitty conditions for about 12 years. It's been a process that has been hard to deal with and I was never very vocal about any of it. (A lot of people still don't know my story) - Today was quite a chilly one just because of the good ol' Irish winter winds!

Four cold dips

Monday 8th Dec
My dad didn't pass away but it changed him in quite a bit of ways that ultimately changed me too. - This morning plunge was very invigorating! I stayed in a bit longer than the previous ones, just kept breathing to keep the peace in my mind and enjoyed the beautiful view in front of me.

Third dip

Thursday 4th Dec
Heart and stroke foundation means a lot to me. When I was 16 my dad had a stroke that changed the whole family's lives in a lot of ways... - My dip this morning was a cold one! I had to walk quite a ways before I hit the water and then some more to get any kind of depth. I had to use my breath to stay centered and ended up doing a low plank just to get my body in the water. Aww so many adventures.

Number 2

Wednesday 3rd Dec
Then I realized that it's for heart and stroke foundation which made me even more excited to participate. I've fundraised for them in the past but in a more silent way. (Definitely Not posting anything on social media) - Today's dip was a bit colder being in the Galway Bay. Had fun though as the waves pushed me back to shore

First cold plunge!

Tuesday 2nd Dec
I randomly subscribed to do this one day without really knowing fully what I had to do. All I knew was that I had to do 12 cold plunges in the month of December and I was all in! (I also saw free hat which is always a nice extra) - first plunge succesful with a small wave that met me as soon as I dunk my shoulders in, a mouthful of lake water that ended up making me have a coughing fit!
