Walking for the Hearts that Can't

I am taking part in 10,000 steps a Day in September to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation and I’d love your support to help protect hearts in Ireland. ❤️

The Irish Heart Foundation’s mission is to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke and to support and care for those living with these life-changing conditions.

Your donation will make a real difference to people and families affected by heart disease and stroke.

Day 11 - weather reflects performance 🤣

Thursday 11th Sep
Day 11
8.58kms, 10,600 steps in 82 mins

Set out on my walk today with cloudy skies and heavy feet, as the walk progressed the sun started shining 🌞, my pace got faster & my steps started to climb 🎉 By the final 2kms, the clouds had gotten darker, the heavens opened and I thought I’d never get back to the car 🤣🤣 Steps completed by one very wet walker 💪🏻 🌧️

Day 10 - tech & Anne reunion

Wednesday 10th Sep
8.18kms, 10,800 steps in 78 mins

Got my app working, got the distance right & the sun even came out for most of the walk 🎉🎉🎉

Day 9 - tech 1, Anne 0

Tuesday 9th Sep
8.9 kms, 12,000 steps in 89 mins
I screwed up the tech again today 🤦🏼‍♀️

I went a different route today but my Bluetooth headphones kept cutting out because my hood was up as I tried to stay somewhat dry…futile effort…When I finally got my headphones working again I didn’t realise that I’d turned off my tracker, didn’t figure that out until I had already walked for 30mins 🤯, no record of my time, distance or steps 🤬 Had to start from scratch.

On the plus side, my overall steps for the day hit over 18.5k 🎉🎉

When is the patron saint of the internet due to be canonised? I desperately need him looking out for me 🤣🤣

Day 8 - back on track

Monday 8th Sep
8.95km, 11,700 steps in 88 mins
The technology worked 🎉🎉🎉 or rather…I used the technology correctly & it worked…weird how that happens 🤣🤣🤣
Also learned that I need to build my schedule around my commitment to the 10,000steps a day challenge by making it a priority focus rather than just something I fit in along the way…mindset change 👍🏻

7th day - more of a challenge than I expected

Monday 8th Sep
7.2 kms, 10,649 steps
Had to split my steps up on Sunday due to travel & family commitments -technology was not my friend in this endeavour…imagine 🤣
Didn’t get to post yesterday so playing catch up today 😵‍💫

6th day - just when I thought I had figured it all out

Saturday 6th Sep
8.02kms, 10,936 steps in 79 mins 🎉🎉
Not as many hills today so went a little faster & covered a higher distance but technology got the better of me 😵‍💫 somehow managed to switch off my tracker on the return stretch of my walk & when I turned it back on I’d lost some of my data, luckily my walk was also being tracked by my watch 🤦🏼‍♀️

5th day - getting the hang of it 🤣

Friday 5th Sep
7.7 kilometres (not miles 😉), 10,300steps in 79.25 mins. Getting a little bit faster, still dealing with the struggle of peeling my bed off my back to get up & out there but getting it done 👍🏻

4th day 🎉

Thursday 4th Sep
4.79 miles, 10,300 steps in 80 mins. Not sure how I walked 200 steps less than yesterday on my walk ‘cos I took the same route 🤷🏼‍♀️ but oh well 🤣🤣
I also just reviewed my previous posts & realised that the summary the Irish Heart Foundation tracker is giving is measuring distance in kilometres and not miles!! I’ll change my tracker tomorrow so that my progress against my goal starts to make sense 👍🏻🤣

3rd day 👍🏻

Wednesday 3rd Sep
Little slower & not as far today but still hit my goal 🎉🎉🎉
4.82 miles, 10,500 steps in 82 mins
Had to remind myself this morning as I struggled to get out on my walk that I only need to take the first step and that I owe it, not only to my commitment to @irishheartfoundation but more importantly, to my commitment to myself 💪🏻

2nd day done 💪🏻

Tuesday 2nd Sep
5.21 miles in 91.5 mins, so a little slower today, the hills felt a little steeper, not going to lie 🤣 but still got it done!!! 11,500 steps!!!

First day completed 🎉🎉

Monday 1st Sep
