The wild Sea Swim Number 12 for me!!!

Yippee, I’ve 12 sea swims completed 13/12/2025

Saturday 13th Dec
A wee bit tired today as I was babysitting last night The girls were up for a swim so Ruth, Seafra & myself met at the beach @ 10am. The sea was a bit fistey and it seemed like the wind was picking up too. Our friend Suzanne was walking her dog so we asked her to take some photos. Then it was time for a swim.  Not the kindest sea ever  and it’s not  nice being spat out but it was a buzz! I’ve now got 12 Sea Swim under my belt. I’m heading inland this afternoon for 4 days but I’ll be back in the sea next week when I’m near the sea. However I’ll take a cold shower to keep me accustomed to the winter sea!

Dec 11th, swim number 10, nearly there

Thursday 11th Dec
We’re all on a roll and are buzzing about how well we’re enjoying the swims, Everyone is in great form and we laugh so
much in the sea. Some of us are swimming and also doing the cold plunge on the same day, we’re having lots of fun. I’m
On number 10 and that’s  just  where I wanted to be at this stage as I’m heading inland for a few days so no sea for me after the weekend!

Swim number 9 ! Can you believe it

Wednesday 10th Dec
Dec 10th Nice start to the day. Dry and little bit of warm sun. Off we went to Wicklow harbour and Seafra, Jane and myself had a great swim. We actually stayed in for a nice length of time. We couldn’t resist a nice warm coffee in The Good Life afterwards.

That’s one cold shower

Tuesday 9th Dec

Take the plunge

Tuesday 9th Dec

December 9th, swim number 8

Tuesday 9th Dec
What a day! Storm Bram was a serious piece of wind rain and destruction. So I went to Wicklow and couldn’t have been happier to see a relatively calm sea with just a few rollers rolling in but certainly nothing to cause me stress. If really felt great to have been able to swim on such a stormy day. I’ll called into Seafra on my way home. Ruth, Seafra and myself all had a fantastic sauna followed by either the plunge bath or cold shower.  Good day eh

December 8th, swim number 7

Monday 8th Dec
Newcastle beach was blowing a gale at 8am while lots of White Sea  horses kept us out of the sea. So Jane and myself took  our selves off to Wicklow where the harbour was actually nice and calm. We had a really lovely swim in a cold 9 degree sea but it was so Nice to have a good swim. Great start to a lovely bright sunny day!

Seafra in the plunge bath & Ruth in the river!

Sunday 7th Dec
What a team

Dec 7th, swim number 6

Sunday 7th Dec
So it’s lashing rain and there’s a deep
Misty fog in the air. Myself and Ruth Brave the elements and hit the beach at 9am after a nice Sunday morning lie in!!! The sea was a wee bit wild but we felt confident and ended up having a super fun swim. Ruth loves swimming in the rain. We met a lad called Ed who had swam just before us. Too wet to take a phone out so no pics today.
Seafra did her really cold plunge today and Ruth also did a river dip. We all really are Silly sea swimmers!

December 6th, 5th swim

Saturday 6th Dec
Sandycove

December 6th, swim number 5

Saturday 6th Dec
Busy Saturday. Played tennis at 9 and took my swim gear with me. I went to Sandycove and the forty foot and decided to take the safe option . Sandycove was a wee bit wild and the tide was very high but the water seemed nice. I stayed in a good while.

December 4th, swim number 4

Thursday 4th Dec
Hard to believe it was another lovely  Winters morning. Clear skies, blue sea and a golden sunrise. I swam alone at 8am and the sea was kind.  I couldn’t be happier. 4 days in and 4 swims

December 3rd, swimmer 3

Wednesday 3rd Dec
Jane, Ruth, Seafra and Cora on a happy swim day

December 3rd, swim number 3

Wednesday 3rd Dec
We met at 9am on the beach and all 4 of us swim together as the sun Rose beautifully over head. The sea was lively and gave us a good adrenaline boost as she rolled in. Everyone was in great form.

Day 2 Swim 2

Tuesday 2nd Dec
Just after Sunrise. It’s 2 degrees out but the sea was lovely. Seafra has joined our team, Happy Days

Silly Sea Swimmers

Monday 1st Dec
December 1st, Swim number one. Well
You have to start somewhere. Day one  December 1st is as good a place , eh. So I’m up at 6:30, swim gear on, coffee flask made and I can’t find my head torch. Ruth is collected and in the car at 6:43 and we head off to Wicklow Harbour. Weather couldn’t be worse but surprisingly the pitch Black Sea is kinda inviting. The rain stops & that’s a welcome surprise. We’re all alone but brave souls that we are, in to the sea we go. It’s freezing, like seriously invigorating. Let’s be honest , we don’t linger too long and thoroughly enjoy the warm coffee  and the hand heat through our melamine mugs, bliss.
Jane took on her swim at 6 mile point  about 2 hours later and by 9am team Silly Sea Swimmers had knoched up 1 Dip. Great start to the challenge.
