Help Protect Hearts in Ireland
Hi a chairde!
My name is Gabby and I am taking part in the Arctic Challenge to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation!
A little bit of background on me! I am a Cork native and a third year medical student in UCC. I first came across the Irish Heart Foundation whilst researching a project on cardiovascular disease for my university work! Some of the statistics I discovered while conducting this research really shocked me, and the more I learnt about the Irish Heart Foundation's vital and lifesaving work, the more I wanted to do something to help!
So I called up my good friend and fellow medical student Trisha and we signed up for the Arctic Challenge together! ❤️
The Arctic Challenge is a fundraiser held by the Irish Heart Foundation and involves a gruelling 8 day trek in the Finnish Wilderness 250km above the Arctic Circle! (in minus 30 degree weather none the less!) I will be embarking upon this challenge alongside 14 other incredible women from around Ireland (and Mike of course!). We will depart for Finland on March 16th 2026! As a part of this challenge we are raising funds for the Irish Heart Foundation and I would love your support in this endeavour! ❤️
The Irish Heart Foundation’s mission is to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke and to support and care for those living with these life-changing conditions.

Hi everyone!
So I’m a little late posting this but we came back from our Arctic Challenge two weeks ago and I wanted to post a little snapshot of what it entailed! Where do I begin! Between snowshoeing and skiing, shelter building and fire starting, It’s honestly been an indescribable experience and I cannot think of a better group of people to have undertaken this challenge with! Every time I fell face first in the snow, I always knew one of them would be there to help me back up. It’s truly been a privilege to get to know you all. ❤️ Massive thank yous to our fantastic guides Rónan, Cindy, and Sinéad who were with us every step of the way. And of course a huge thank you to Muireann and Anne from the Irish Heart Foundation!
And finally I wanted to thank every single person who contributed to my fundraiser. I cannot tell you just how much I’ve appreciated your kindness and generosity! Your support enables the Irish Heart Foundation to do their fantastic, lifesaving work and every contribution truly makes a difference.
So thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a whirlwind experience and the most amazing adventure with the most amazing people. ❤️
