Why I’m Running for the Irish Heart Foundation – Run 100

Heart failure affects real people, mothers, fathers, children, and people who hold our communities together. It changes lives, routines, and futures.

I am taking part in the Irish Heart Foundation’s Run 100 campaign, where participants walk, jog, or run 100 kilometres to raise funds for people living with heart failure. I chose to be part of this because I believe in supporting people through health crises, not only with words, but with action.

As an international student and a youth advocate from Sierra Leone, I have been involved in fundraising efforts for two kidney failure patients. Those experiences showed me how illness can overwhelm families and how much difference support can make. Whether in Sierra Leone or Ireland, the struggle is the same when someone’s health is at risk.

The Irish Heart Foundation supports people living with heart failure through research, care, and patient support services. By supporting my Run 100 challenge, you are helping to make that work possible.
