Walking for the Hearts that Can't

I am taking part in 10,000 steps a Day in September to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation and I’d love your support to help protect hearts in Ireland. ❤️

The Irish Heart Foundation’s mission is to eliminate preventable death and disability from heart disease and stroke and to support and care for those living with these life-changing conditions.

Your donation will make a real difference to people and families affected by heart disease and stroke.

Thank you for visiting my page and for your support.

Irish Heart Foundation and My Recovery

Monday 1st Sep
On the 10th of September 2024 while on maternity leave I had a stroke caused by a dissection in one of the arteries  in my neck. A moment that changed my life. During my recovery, I have been supported by the Irish heart foundation. The Irish heart foundation do amazing work including supporting people that have had a stroke, I have also learned so much from them and other members of the young stroke survivors network. In September (a year since I had my stroke) I am taking part in 10,000 steps a Day to raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation and I’d love your support.

I would also like to raise awareness of stroke symptoms, as I didn’t have the “typical FAST” stroke symptoms. BE FAST

Balance - does the person have sudden loss of balance or coordination?

Eyes - does the person have double vision or loss of vision?

Face - their face may have dropped on 1 side, the person may not be able to smile, or their mouth or eye may have dropped.

Arms - the person may not be able to lift both arms and keep them raised because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm.

Speech - their speech may be slurred or hard to understand, or the person may not be able to talk at all, despite appearing to be awake. They may also have problems understanding what you're saying to them.

Time - it's time to call 112 or 999 immediately if you see any of these signs.

Thank you to my Sponsors
