🎉 Challenge completed!

On September 1st, I set out to walk 10,000 steps a day for 30 days in support of the Irish Heart Foundation. Thanks to my generous sponsors, I raised €525 🙏 — with a special shout-out to my amazing ServiceNow colleagues, who contributed €200 via the Deed Platform.

💡 What was my motivation?
After months of studying at night while working full-time, my fitness had slipped. As a woman in menopause, I’m very aware that the drop in oestrogen increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Walking is such a simple, free way to stay active — and it really works.

☔ Yes, the Irish weather did its best to stop me, but I kept going. And I’m so glad I did!

✨ The icing on the cake: I also lost 2 kg along the way.

And to wrap it up, I created a short video with some of the pictures I took over the last month — enjoy! 🎥👟

#Day6 to #Day13

Hi all,

I have been posting on my Instagram account every day, and didn't update here, so here is just a synopsis of my activities! 

I have been walking 10,000 steps a day since September 1st, and completed #day13 today by walking the #Cooleparkrun , which is about 7,500 steps. I then had gorgeous breakfast and returned to the walled garden. Two laps around the Walled Garden completed my 10,000 steps.

The weather has been positively awful so it's been hard to walk the steps as there has been so much torrential rain on and off during the day. 

One of the days I ended up walking 2000 steps around the kitchen and yesterday evening I was short 1000 steps. I now know a walk around the outside of the house is about 100 steps. 10 laps later, the last 1000 steps are in ! 

I'd like to thank all my sponsors ! So far I have raised 316 Euros - my aim is to raise 500 Euros by the end of the month
Your donation matters and will help the Irish Heart Foundation provide much needed support to people and their families affected by Heart Disease and stroke.

17 more days to go! I am really starting to enjoy being more active and notice I am getting fitter and using muscels I haven't used in a long time!

🚶‍♀️ 5 Days, 50,000 Steps & €99 Raised! 💖

The first 5 days of my 10,000 steps-a-day challenge are done ✅
Not going to lie — it’s been a bit of a shock to the system after 2 years of very little exercise while finishing my BA 🎓 But now it’s time to rebuild healthy habits AND raise funds for the Irish Heart Foundation ❤️

So far:

  • €99 raised 🙏

  • 2 blisters (battle scars!) 🩹

  • 1 kilo down 🎉

Tomorrow I’ll be joining the Parkrun / Parkwalk at Coole Park, Gort, Co. Galway — come say hi if you’re around!
